ZX Measurement Services deploys ZX 300 wind Lidar at Bettyhill Wind Farm in north Scotland.
Eden Renewables has selected ZX 300 wind Lidar as their wind measurement tool of choice to support the company’s onshore wind development plans at Bettyhill Wind Farm Phase 2. An international developer of renewable energy and battery storage projects, with a pipeline of projects across the UK and USA, Eden Renewables purchased a ZX 300 wind Lidar and contracted wind resource campaign management specialist ZX Measurement Services to support their proposed wind farm development in the Highlands of Scotland.
Operational since 2013, Phase 1 of the Bettyhill Wind Farm has an installed capacity of 6 MW. Located on open moorland on Bettyhill Common Grazings (part of the Skelpick Estate in Sutherland), the site enjoys excellent wind speeds. The proposed phase 2 extension will see up to 10 turbines with a 49.9 MW installed capacity. The site is expected to generate 166,00MWh of renewable, carbon-free electricity - equivalent to typical annual usage of 44,000 homes.
Joanna Cadman-Goodwin, Business Development Manager at ZX Measurement Services commented: “We are delighted to support Eden Renewables with their UK development plans. Our approach to providing world-class wind measurements allows clients to access accurate and fast wind measurements using the industry leading ZX 300 Lidars. We are delighted to have supplied Eden with our state-of-the-art power solution, as well as turnkey services throughout their wind resource assessment campaign. We pride ourselves in providing wind data as a service throughout Europe to deliver projects such as these.”
Ross Wolhuter, Head of UK Development, Eden Renewables, said: “The use of a Lidar system allowed for quick and flexible deployment of wind speed measurement equipment, immediately providing us with daily wind data for evaluation. The process was smooth and efficient working with ZX and ZXMS, who are the leaders in their field.”
