The international solar energy conference 'Dynamics in the global PV market and Chinese PV industry' will focus on discussing the best strategy to survive and thrive in times of crisis.
The Chinese solar PV industry is growing rapidly, and will soon be the biggest producer of solar cells and modules in the world. There are now over 100 large Chinese solar module manufacturers, with new ones starting up every week.
What will happen with these companies in the short-run when the effects of the current credit crisis start to kick in? Mr. Edwin Koot (CEO of SolarPlaza) will open the meeting with an analysis of developments in the global market in his presentation: Fasten your seatbelts: the global PV market demands dynamics.
Mr Rory Macpherson (Investor Relations Director at Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd) will follow on with a talk about “Oversupply in cell and module production in China? The industry perspective on price expectations and technology developments”.
In addition, companies such as new thin-film manufacturers and ET Solar and CSI Solar will share their vision of developments in the supply chain and the market situation, and discuss possible responses. Alex Taylor (Director Investor Relations at CSI Solar) will talk about short cuts to grid parity in his speech “Will UMG be the holy grail in substantially reducing cell costs?”
ENN Solar of the XinAo Group, BLD Solar, SUNGEN International and Amplesun Solar Technology will provide in-depth information on their thin-film technology and market position. With production of this technology growing at an incredible rate, thin-film companies are looking for ways to reduce costs as soon as possible and survive the economic turmoil.
During the sessions, and the informal business lunch and dinner, there will be plenty of space for private meetings and to discuss these issues in further detail. This international conference is part of an international trade mission to China organized by SolarPlaza.
During the week-long program (from 24 to 28 November 2008), SolarPlaza will be visiting five factories belonging to reliable, high-quality crystalline and thin-film module manufacturers. For more information please visit: www.pvtourchina.com.
