Three-wheel professional personal mobility vehicles are instantly recognizable to anyone who's seen a policeman on patrol or a security guard handling crowd control at big public events. A market exists, however, in the security, military, law enforcement, and public event space - addressing the need for alternative, all-electric "green" vehicles.
Answering that need is T3 Motion, Inc., a California-based company that is developing and manufacturing the T3 professional personal mobility vehicles for the private security, public safety, and government industries. “We’ve introduced the T3, a zero gas emissions all-electric three-wheeled professional personal mobility vehicle that proves ‘green’ wheels can reduce costs while increasing community public safety and enhancing job performance,” says the company’s Chief Operations Officer, Jason Kim.
Intended for the public safety, private security, and government markets, the T3 is incredibly effective in a variety of day-to-day professional applications and has been designed to tackle a host of functions, from community policing to patrolling of airports, military bases, campuses, malls, public event venues, and other high-density areas.
“The vehicle runs off unique dual battery power modules that hold a charge capable of going up to thirty to fifty miles,” explains Mr. Kim. “The power management system enables spare ‘hot swappable’ batteries to be charged while the vehicle is in use, making this a true 24/7 solution, something that hadn’t existed before in this space.”
The T3 is cost effective and operates on less than a penny per mile based on California utility rates. (Comparing that to standard miles-to-the-gallon, one quickly appreciates the substantial cost and energy savings solution the T3 provides.) Ideally suited for crowd control, the T3 travels at up to twenty-five miles per hour, carries up to 450-pound payload (ideal for cargo and parcel delivery applications), has a zero-degree turn radius, and programmable sirens and lighting that have been designed using input from various government and law enforcement agencies.
“It looks pretty cool, too; like a twenty-first century Roman chariot,” says Mr. Kim,, describing the response to the T3 during its recent security detail performance at the Super Bowl, the Republican National Convention, the NYC and Boston Marathons, the Daytona 500, the Academy Awards, even American Idol tryouts. “Clean, cool, and cost-effective, when it comes to safety, going green means saving green.”
