The House Designers (THD) and ENERGY STAR have partnered to offer consumers an exclusive collection of Green House Plans. Their newly launched ENERGY STAR House Plan website, features green designs from The House Designers best-selling, most popular collections, as well as practical tips, information and product ideas on how to build a green home. THD launched their new site to support ENERGY STARS' initiative to encourage consumers to build eco-friendly, energy efficient homes.
THD met with many top manufacturers at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Boston, who will showcase their eco-friendly products on the new website and assist in educating consumers about the many benefits to building a green home.
In the Green Building section, consumers can learn what it really means to build a "green" home including being updated on the latest eco-friendly products. Information is available in a library of articles explaining items like HERS raters, the LEED program, the Green Label Program and much more. The new site also helps consumers to find green products for their ENERGY STAR® homes including innovative ideas on lighting, windows, appliances, paint, roofing, siding and much more.
All ENERGY STAR® house plans include a complete set of working construction drawings with energy-efficient details and specifications for features such as tight construction and duct systems (specific to locality), properly-installed insulation, high performance windows, efficient heating and cooling equipment, and ENERGY STAR® qualified lighting and appliances to reduce energy costs by 20 to 30 percent.
