Obama Stimulus Package to Double Solar Electricity Production in USA

President-Elect Barack Obama announced in his weekly radio address that the government's new stimulus plan will double renewable energy production in the next two years.

“As the details of the new stimulus package emerge, we expect to see the government push alternative energy opportunities as fast as possible,” noted Eddie Austin, CEO of Sunrise Solar Corporation. “The goal set by the stimulus program will require us to make as much progress in the next two years as companies have made in the last 15 years.”

In his weekly radio and video address describing what he called the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan, Obama spelled out five main goals. The first goal of the stated plan is to double renewable energy production.

“That's why we need an American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan that not only creates jobs in the short-term but spurs economic growth and competitiveness in the long-term,” stated President-Elect Obama.
