Reebok announced that for the first time, Reebok's Super Bowl Championship locker room Tees worn by the Steelers following their win of Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa Bay, FL were made using eco-friendly, 100 percent organic cotton fabric.
“Reebok recognizes the importance of environmentally responsible business practices,” said John McMahon, Director of Marketing for Reebok Sports Licensed Division. “As a company, we are constantly looking for innovative design and production technology to make us a more sustainable company. These Championship Tees are produced each year for the Super Bowl, and are typically a best-seller. By incorporating an eco-friendly element to them, the Reebok brand and the NFL are using the global platform of the Super Bowl to raise awareness about environmentally-conscious opportunities.”
The Tees feature fabric made from organic cotton yarn, hang tags made of recycled materials and signature green stitching on the shoulder and inside neck seams, which distinguishes the product as official organic Super Bowl Locker Room Tees.
These new, eco-friendly Tees are available for a limited time at select retail outlets. Fans interested in purchasing the shirts may log on to Reebok.com, NFLshop.com or visit their local sporting goods retailer immediately following Super Bowl XLIII.
In addition, later this year, Reebok will introduce Reebok Sustain, a new line of eco-friendly NFL licensed apparel. The line will include products made of recycled polyester, as well as products made from 100% organic cotton. The Reebok Sustain line of NFL apparel will be available prior to the 2009 NFL season.
