More light while consuming less – the new star in industrial lighting is the LUMILUX T5. No wonder global businesses such as logistics provider DHL rely on these cost-effective fluorescent lamps. They light up DHL’s new aviation hub at Leipzig/Halle, for example. The result is low energy costs while maintaining the best lighting conditions in offices, the distribution centre and outside areas.
DHL’s aviation hub at Leipzig/Halle airport sets new standards in many different ways. The company ships 1,500 tonnes of freight from this nodal point to 46 destinations worldwide every day. Located at its core is the 47,000 square metre distribution centre, in which Germany’s largest sorting facility processes more than 100,000 packages and flyers every hour. The logistic centre’s energy balance is impressive too – also due to Osram’s energy-efficient lighting system. With the economical and bright LUMILUX T5 lamps the company’s electricity costs are up to 50% lower than with conventional T8 lamps.
High light efficiency at all temperatures
The approximately 22,000 LUMILUX T5 lamps installed are on 24/7. With their low energy consumption and long life they are particularly cost-effective. The LUMILUX T5 HO (High Output) demonstrates its strengths in the new distribution centre as it provides up to 55% more light than its conventional counterparts. Even in tall buildings with limited space it enables ideal visibility and therefore the best working conditions. With the optimised version of the LUMILUX T5 HO Constant Osram also sheds light on the hub’s outside area. It is the first fluorescent lamp that has a constantly high luminous flux at ambient temperatures between 5° and 70°C. This is enabled by the innovative amalgam technology developed by Osram. It keeps the ideal operating temperature in the lamp at 35°C – in cold as well as hot applications.
Lamp operation with electronic control gear lowers costs
For its offices DHL has chosen the LUMILUX T5 HE (High Efficiency), the energy saver of fluorescent lamps. Its power consumption is 40% below that of T8 lamps. Plus, like all lamps in the LUMILUX T5 series, it is extremely compact with a diameter of 16mm and has excellent colour reproduction. Lamp operation is especially cost-effective in combination with the Quicktronic Professional (QTP 5) electronic control gear, as they can double service life. This lowers maintenance requirements and therefore the costs of replacing and repairing lamps.
