Dow Corning Corporation is to sponsor the first Dow Corning Sustainable Innovation with Silicones Award honoring the contributions of the cosmetic technical community in using silicones for a sustainable future.
The award, the first of its kind, is reflective of Dow Corning’s commitment to encourage and foster innovative approaches to support sustainability. The award also demonstrates the company’s continuing endeavor to enable its customers meet beauty and personal care challenges.
“Over the years, Dow Corning’s silicone-based technology has enhanced the beauty and personal care market. The flexible functional and sensory capabilities of silicones in beauty and personal care products also make them an interesting candidate offering a more environmentally sound alternative to organic compounds and other chemicals.” said Stephen Gosney, Dow Corning’s life sciences director of marketing & innovation.“This new award is one of the many sustainable business practice initiatives implemented and supported by the company both for ourselves and for our business partners.”
The winner of the award from the cosmetic technical community in Latin America will be announced at COLAMIQC XIX, the 19th Latin American Congress on Cosmetic Chemists, in October.
“As a major contribution toward climate protection E.ON is planning industrial-scale CO2 capture and storage for coal-fired power plants starting in 2020. Operation of this pilot plant together with Siemens is a major step in this direction,” said Gerhard Seibel, Technical Director responsible for new units at E.ON Kraftwerke.
