Dow Corning Names Dr. Guy Beaucarne as Solar Cell Science and Technology Manager For its Solar Market Business Unit

Dow Corning has named Dr. Guy Beaucarne as Solar Cell Science and Technology Manager for its Solar Market Business Unit, which provides silicon-based solutions throughout the entire photovoltaic value chain. He will be based at Dow Corning’s European headquarters in Belgium.

“Guy brings tremendous experience and technical expertise to the solar science and technology team,” said Dr. Haroula Reitz, solar science and technology manager of Dow Corning’s Solar Market Business Unit. “His industry knowledge, project management and leadership skills will help drive Dow Corning’s capabilities in photovoltaic cell innovation.”

Dr. Beaucarne joins Dow Corning with more than a decade of experience in solar photovoltaics. Previously, he held a number of roles at the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC), including as leader of the Solar Cell Technology group in the Solar and Organic Technologies department.

Dr. Beaucarne has a master’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering and a doctorate in Applied Sciences, both from Catholic University of Leuven. In 2001, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of New South Wales’ Special Research Centre for Third Generation Photovoltaics in Sydney, Australia.

“Dow Corning’s continued investment in solar cell science and technology is essential to producing custom solution packages for solar cell manufacturing, module assembly and installation,” said Dr. Reitz. “We look forward to working with Guy to develop even more robust product offerings.”

Dow Corning’s solution packages are built on high-performance silicone products such as encapsulants, adhesives, coatings, potting agents and sealants, as well as next-generation solar grade silicon.
