Energy Smart Industry (ESI), a company based in Florida and New York, is in talks to redesign an undisclosed portion of Orlando International Airport with an innovative energy-saving LED lighting system. It would increase safety in parking garages because the light is brighter. Also, the inside of the airport and garages would change given the quality, and tone of the lights would create a more illuminated perspective. The pilot was installed in May to give a more accurate view of what this project could do for the airport.
Energy Smart Industry installed the test pilot in a portion of one of the parking garages to display the rich quality of light that can be achieved while reducing the energy bill. The redesign is entirely "green." President of World Trade Center Orlando, Byron Sutton seemed optimistic about the response to the pilot program. "They were very impressed with the amount of light compared to existing light fixtures," Sutton said.
The service would have no out-of-pocket expense per Energy Smart Industry's patent-pending policy. Under this exclusive program, the airport will pay nothing in advance and get cash back from day one after the retrofit is complete.
By working with Energy Smart Industry, the airport would be laying the foundation for long-term economic growth as energy legislation becomes more prevalent and clean-energy measures increase.
