Looking for Growth Companies in the Nanotechnology and Environmental Industries

GC Research Ltd. ("GCR"), a boutique equity research firm that specializes in the technology industry, with a focus on emerging technologies, announced that it has reinitiated coverage of the nanotechnology industry with a focus on identifying companies, large and small, with the highest near-term and long-term growth stories across the most impacted industry verticals. GCR is specifically interested in companies with market leadership positions in product markets that utilize nanotechnology and that expect nanotechnology to be a significant driver of future growth.

The 92 page whitepaper is the first in a series of five that will be published within the next 12-18 months addressing the five nano-markets - manufacturing, electronics, energy, biology and the environment. GCR will provide coverage on a core list of companies in each market, as well as offer special trading opportunities identified while canvassing the entire industry. GCR believes a holistic approach to covering the nanotechnology industry allows investors a more portfolio-driven approach to identifying the best growth opportunities in real time across the entire technology sector (and broader market).

Over the past five years, a lack of understanding of nanotechnology, ongoing debates around whether nanotechnology is an industry or simply an enabling technology, and whether large or small corporations would drive the future innovation and growth have caused investors fatigue and investment firms to retrench.

Yet over the same time period, there has continued to be growth, progress, interest and investment in nanotechnology across many verticals by governments, universities, and companies large and small worldwide. "The fundamental driver in nanotechnology investing continues to be growth. With a clear secular outperformance in Bull & Bear markets, a low correlation and high beta offering attractive portfolio diversification and value after the biggest pullback in history in CY08, nanotechnology continues to be an interesting investment opportunity," said Peter Wright, Executive Vice President and Director of Research at GC Research Ltd.

Mr. Wright recently joined GCR from Fidelity Investments, where he was one of the most senior technology analysts and recognized by Institutional Investor in its "Best of the Buy-side" ranking.

Kimberly Nearing, GCR's Executive Vice President Investment Advisory Services said, "GCR continues to be committed to helping institutional investors identify the best nanotechnology investment opportunities and to helping promising companies fulfill their strategic and financial growth plans."
