At Pack Expo 2009, here, Spartech Corporation, a leader in the development and design of green packaging materials, has answered the demand for environmentally responsible, sustainable polyvinyl chloride (PVC) replacements with two families of products: EnviroSeal™ and UltrosRenu™. These materials provide unique application solutions for RF tear, bar and heat-seal blister and clamshell packaging for consumer, food and medical products. These and other innovative packaging solutions will be on display here in Spartech’s booth S5603.
“As the packaging industry is increasingly challenged to produce more environmentally responsible products, Spartech is at the forefront with a wide array of sustainable, high performance, PVC alternatives to meet a broad spectrum of packaging needs,” said Jonathan Cage, director of Packaging Development. “Together, EnviroSeal™ and our UltrosRenu™ line reflect Spartech’s strong commitment to environmental stewardship and to providing our customers with a competitively priced, ‘drop in’ polyester material for every sealing process on the market today.”
Both EnviroSeal™ and UltrosRenu™ contain comparable physical performance properties to PVC and meet a broad cross-section of PVC-based applications. These products are specifically designed to suit individual manufacturing processes; require no tooling or capital expenditures; and deliver excellent trimming qualities, impact properties, and packaging performance.
EnviroSeal™ XP20, XP30 and XP40 – available with pre- or post-consumer content and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) food contact approval – offers superior clarity and performance and can be RF welded and heat-sealed to film or cards. In addition to its use in a variety of containers in the food industry, EnviroSealTM is ideal for non-food consumer, electronics and warehouse club, and industrial products packaging as a PVC replacement.
“UltrosRenu™ 90 Clear, 90 Blend, and 90 Blue Tint are produced with the industry’s highest quality recycled PETG materials, delivering a material yield advantage over PVC,” Cage said. “It is designed for blister packaging, clamshells, display boxes and containers in the non-food, consumer, electronics and warehouse club packaging and industrial products markets. UltrosRenuTM contains pre-consumer content and is RF, bar and tear, and heat sealable.
