Panax Geothermal has developed numerous geothermal power projects in varied regions around the world. One such project is located in Kyrgyzstan, which is rich in heat producing granite resources and hot springs.
This geothermal power project, tapped by Panax Geothermal, is known for resources such as hot fractured rock, Himalayan-like geothermal sources and low to medium heat sources.
Geothermal gradients are abundant with the Sary Jaz granite variety that is found in eastern Kyrgyztan. Panax Geothermal has entered into an agreement with Kentor Gold for the assessment and exploration of the region. The exploration program carried out will cover the geophysical, geochemical and geological aspects of the power plant and its surrounding areas.
An advantage with an area such as Kyrgyztan is that it consists of a well developed transmission grid due to the number of successful hydro projects in the area. Panax Geothermal has collaborated with Hot Dry Rock Pty Ltd (HDRPL) to undertake a preliminary assessment of the geothermal licences in the area. This assessment has also resulted in a report outlining the follow up work to be conducted in the Kyrgyztan power plant.
