Alps Technology manufactures an extensive range of solar modules. These solar modules are available in different models. The AP-NB5w solar module is manufactured using polycrystalline solar cells. This five watt solar module has dimensions of 318x183x28 millimeters respectively and weighs 1 kilogram.
The voltage and current specifications of the AP-NB5w solar module are 17.4 volts and 0.71 amperes, respectively. These solar modules are supplied either as laminates or as complete modules. The lightweight design of the solar module is due to the tedlar or glass construction of the module. The glass or tedlar construction of the module also ensures that it provides protection to solar cells from diverse weather conditions.
The AP-NB5w solar module consists of a maximum number of 36 encapsulated solar cells. These solar cells are encapsulated beneath tempered glass with the aid of a thermal setting plastic. The thermal setting plastic is resistant to UV rays. The encapsulant that is used for binding the solar cells onto the laminate is ethylene vinyl acetate. The ethylene vinyl acetate also accounts for the functional characteristics of solar cells in any climatic condition. The AP-NB5w solar module also consists of polymer sheet on its rear surface. This polymer sheet has been incorporated for protecting the module from mechanical stress and moisture.
The solar modules are used in stand-alone power systems and grid-connected systems. Some of the applications of the AP-NB5w module include street lighting, aviation obstruction lights, monitoring of environmental data and power in remote areas.
