The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded $45 million as smart grid stimulus fund for a smart grid project to Con Edison. Following this, Viridity Energy has announced that it will work together with Con Edison in their smart grid project.
Along with the New York City Economic Development and Con Edison, Viridity Energy will work to optimize advanced building and solar power generation technologies for the city-owned properties to generate clean, virtual power for utilization.
With the help of VPower System, Viridity Energy can transform large energy consumers into virtual power plants. VPower System can help to decrease energy cost, to increase energy efficiency, and it can generate continuous revenue that will help to achieve both sustainability and economic goals. VPower System helps customers with an advanced software platform that will evaluate the overall energy load and optimize the energy usage round the clock. The VPower System will also help to integrate and collect the data pertaining to load, storage, and on-site generation resources as used by the customer.
Viridity Energy has already received smart grid stimulus funding along with its project partner, PECO on October 27, 2009. According to Audrey Zibelman, President and CEO, for Viridity Energy, it is prestigious to work along with Con Edison in the smart grid demonstration program award and they convey their appreciation to President Obama, Secretary Chu, Congress and DOE for the investment in an electric grid at America. Audrey also added that they appreciate Con Edison for the novelty and the direction they have shown in dealing with grid and energy challenges, and also expressed that Viridity Energy is happy to work along with New York City Economic Development Corporation on this smart grid project.
