Verisae announced on 30 November, 2009 that the US arm of Tesco known as the Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, has reported 32% of energy consumption. This is lower than the average energy used in an industry for a single square foot in all their 130 stores. Fresh & Energy has gained a periodical decrease in the usage of energy through the usage of sustainability software solutions from Verisae.
Asset management, energy and environmental solutions from Verisae are used in all the stores, which belong to Fresh & Energy. These solutions help in enhancing operational features and decrease the level of environmental impact. The annual energy usage in the sites in comparison with the industry average is about 30 gigawatt-hours of reduction.
The Fresh & Energy stores are designed under Verisae’s Sustainability Resource Planning platform, which has provided these stores with ample skylights, energy free glass doors and modernized lighting systems. Verisae has helped Fresh & Energy to produce technology energy solutions with a low carbon feature.
Steve Hagen, Director of Procurement, Engineering and Maintenance for Fresh & Easy, stated that the stores of Fresh & Energy have been designed with energy efficient features, and these stores consume less energy, which helps in lowering the food bills of their customers and also protect the environment. Hagen also stated that the refrigerant usage has also been lowered to about 10% and the energy efficiency of the buildings is also improved through the usage of Verisae’s sustainability solutions.
Dr. Abtar Singh, Vice President of Energy for Verisae, remarked that proper usage of energy is being maintained through the systematic monitoring of energy usage.
