Midwest Windpower provides different models of wind turbine systems that include the 5 kilowatt grid tie system. This wind turbine has the capacity to run a small home. The 5 kilowatt wind turbine system includes an Aurora 6000-watt grid tie inverter. The wind turbine is mounted on a free standing hydraulic tower measuring 39 feet in height.

The 5 kilo watt grid tie wind turbine system is designed to operate automatically. Whenever there are high or extreme wind speeds, the wind turbine turns itself 45 and 90 degree away from the wind. The wind turbine also applies the dump load and brake, if required. The rotor diameter of the wind turbine is 21 feet. The maximum wind speed this wind turbine can withstand is 100 miles per hour. The cut-in wind speed of the 5 kilo watt grid tie wind turbine is 4.4 miles per hour, while the rated wind speed is 22 miles per hour.
The 5 kilowatt grid tie wind turbine system features an aluminum alloy case, wiring for tower, on and off grid controller, load diversion resistor bank, and dogvane anemometer. The maximum power and rated power of the wind turbine is 6,200 watts and 5,000 watts, respectively. The rated current is 25 amperes, while the rated voltage is 240 volts. At a height of 39 feet, the 5 kilowatt grid tie wind turbine produces a noise level of 59.3 decibels.
