Suntech Power Holdings announced on 9 December, 2009 that three long-term supply agreements were signed by the company. Suntech, a top-level manufacturer of crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules, has agreed to supply up to 490MW of solar modules.
An engineering, procurement and construction company, a project developer and a value-added seller in Europe have established a long-term partnership with Suntech and they have also signed agreements in order to secure the access to the solar modules manufactured by Suntech. This long-term partnership also aimed in acquiring a detailed view of new product roll-outs, shipment planning and market information.
Jerry Stokes, VP of Strategy and Business Development of Suntech, remarked that the company’s efficient reliability, performance and quality have motivated customers to establish partnerships with Suntech. Stokes suggested that the company and its partners should get a closer view of project pipelines and future market drivers in order to expand its growth from the year 2010. This indeed will enable the company to regulate its product performance and specifications and to fulfill the market demand for solar modules from Suntech.
According to the signed agreement, Suntech has planned to supply 115MW in the year 2010, 155MW in the year 2011, and 220MW in the year 2012. This supply will increase in the upcoming years. Suntech is also looking forward to complete its other long-term supply agreements within the next few months as part of enhancing the company’s long-term growth.
David Hogg, Head Suntech Europe, remarked that Suntech is an innovative company with efficient technology developments. Hogg referred to the Pluto cell technology used in the HiPerforma module, which is the first in the world possessing good conversion efficiency for a polycrystalline module. Hogg stated that Suntech products can be selected in the initial design process if partners are supplied with prior knowledge of the new Suntech products that are introduced in the market. This product knowledge according to Hogg is of vital importance in project developments that could go on for more than a year starting from the design process followed by permitting and construction.
