Independent Power Systems develops guy-less towers for mounting small wind turbines. The guy-less tower, with its cantilevered design, hinges 15 feet above the ground and stands 40 feet tall. With the industrial hand winch, one person can easily raise and lower the tower. The winch incorporates an automatic disc brake to prevent the falling of the tower and helps in raising and lowering of the tower safely. The winch line and winch are always attached to the tower.
The guy-less tilt down tower has small footprint and it is easy to assemble. The tower kit includes structural steel tower, winch line, industrial winch, fasteners, pulley, anti-corrosion paste, down tower cable, cable strain relief, electrical tape, wire nuts, split bolts, 3-phase lighting arrestor, box connector, PVC conduit, 8 x 8 feet junction box, rebar, ground rod and tower bonding point.
The structural materials of the guy-less tower are available in steel tube and round tube. The base of the tower measures 20 x 3 x 1.5 feet and weighs 850 pounds. The lower mast measures 14.5 feet x 5 inches and weighs 225 pounds. The top mast measures 9.5 feet x 5 inches and weighs 140 pounds. The main mast of the tower measures 20 x 0.5 x 1 feet and weighs 460 pounds. The guy-less tilt down tower is available in two models, namely 15GLT40 and 15GLT40 Hybrid.
