The largest rooftop solar system in Europe with a capacity of 40MW was inaugurated by Trina Solar, a leading manufacture of solar photovoltaic products that includes wafers, cells and ingots along with assembly of PV modules. The installation of this rooftop solar system was completed with the use of solar modules from Trina Solar. These solar modules were supplied based on the sales agreement between Trina Solar and Invictus. Invictus, a partner of the Benelux TEC Servicegroup, is a Belgian company.
The rooftop solar system with an investment of 166 million euro is expected to be wholly operational by the end of the year 2009. The installation of this rooftop system has benefited the environment as it has brought about reductions in carbon dioxide emissions of 17,000,000 kg and capable of supplying 14,000 families with energy that is required on an annual consumption basis.
Arturo Herrero, Vice-President of Special Key Accounts of Trina Solar, remarked that the company is pleased to share a partnership with Invictus in order to successfully install the largest rooftop system in Europe with the usage of solar modules from Trina Solar. Herrero further stated that Trina Solar and Invictus are also carrying out their operations in Belgium and other European countries due to the expansion of PV installations in these regions.
Jan Van der Henst, Chief Executive Officer of Invictus, stated that the company was pleased to partner Trina Solar for the installation of this project. A one-day inaugural celebration onsite was hosted by Invictus in Antwerp on 5 December 2009. This inauguration was attended by the suppliers, management members and customers of Trina Solar along with the Belgian Minister-President.
