A business and technical collaboration agreement was announced by Solar Energy Initiatives and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan to develop and commercialize a new series of solar products and solutions.
By 2013, the global solar photovoltaic market is expected to touch $34 billion. The economic stimulus bill announced by U.S is supplying billions of dollars to companies that are engaged in renewable energy development and manufacturing. The stimulus money is routed through U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) for investment in renewable energy companies in U.S. ITRI has advanced solar facilities in Hsinchu, Taiwan and provides technology development services to solar industry. The collaboration agreement with Solar Energy Initiatives will enable ITRI to integrate the latest technologies into solar solutions such as dye-sensitized solar cell, LED lighting, module encapsulation, printable CIGS and silicon solar cell products.
Robert Pimentel, Business Development Director of ITRI, said that through this collaboration agreement with Solar Energy Initiatives, its patented solar technology will be provided a platform for rapid growth in the North American market. He further said that Solar Energy Initiatives will be responsible for distribution and sales of its patented solar technologies that has the capability of generating substantial revenues for Solar Energy Initiatives.
