Sun Systems provides various models of solar hot water systems, including systems incorporated with Coppersun solar collectors. The Coppersun CS-450S solar collector, offered by the company, features a patented roof integrated design. Due to this feature, the solar collector looks like a skylight or a small satellite dish on the roof. The capacity of the solar collector is 50 gallons. This solar collector uses domestic tap or potable water as working fluid.
The frame of the Coppersun CS-450S solar collector is made of 6063 T-5 aluminum. For a bottom connected solar collector, the frame includes an integral counter flashing. The flashing pan used is a CopperSun segmented type of roof flashing. The aluminum frame is finished with powder coated paint. The dimensions of the frame are 48.75 x 98.75 inches. The solar collector, offered by Sun Systems, features a minimum of one-inch thick polysocyanurate insulation. The front of the solar collector features low iron tempered glass that is 1/8-inch in thickness. This tempered glass has a minimum transmissibility of 91 per cent.
The solar collector features DWV copper tubing that has a nominal diameter of 4 inches and wall thickness of 0.058 inch. The Coppersun CS-450S solar collector has an aperture area of 29.93 square feet, with a foot print area of 33.43 square feet. The aperture length and width of the collector are 95.25 and 35.25 inches, respectively. The collector measures 6.437 inches in height. The CS-450S solar collector weighs 745.15 pounds when filled and 327.9 pounds when empty.
