Magma Energy explores, develops, and operates various geothermal energy projects. The Soda Lake geothermal power plant, operated by the company, is situated in Nevada. The company owns the project entirely. The maximum rated output of the power plant is 23 megawatts, and the current operating capacity is 8 megawatts. The company has entered into a 30-year power purchase deal for the geothermal project. The company operates the project with experienced geothermal plant operators.
At present, Magma Energy is drilling two production wells as well as upgrading the existing equipment’s service piping, at the site. The total operation site comprises 5,117 acres of federal and private lands, which are dedicated to the Soda Lake Geothermal Unit Agreement. The operation site can be accessed by both gravel and paved roads. The project site has two major highways located near to it. The power plants, injection wells and production wells of the site also have easy access by road.
The Soda Lake geothermal power plant is located near to 120, 230, and 345 kilovolts transmission lines also. The electricity produced from the geothermal plant is sold to the NV Energy Company, under the 30-year deal. The operation site consists of two facilities, namely, Soda Lake 1 and Soda Lake 2. The Soda Lake 1 is installed with a water-cooled condensing system, and the Lake 2 is installed with an air-cooled condensing system.
