Tellabs Finland Offices Switches to Hydropower

Tellabs offices in Finland will be using electricity produced by hydropower from the beginning of the year 2010. Electricity from eco-friendly source will be utilized by more than 500 employees in all the offices of Tellabs present in Espoo, Finland. Electricity obtained from hydropower is a natural renewable energy without any carbon dioxide emissions. Tellabs endeavors to make the perfect choices to bring about sustainable development and improvements in the environment.

Mika Heikkinen, General Manager and Vice President of Tellabs Finland, remarked that the shift to hydropower highlights the company’s goal to act in an eco-friendly manner by helping to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and improving sustainability.

Tellabs Finland is investing to a great extent in the areas of research and development for innovative telecommunications solutions. As a result, a major portion of company’s electricity consumption occurs in its R&D laboratories. The company will help to reduce almost 2100 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions by switching to hydropower. The worldwide carbon footprint of Tellabs will decrease by 5 percent.
