ORMAT ENERGY CONVERTER Technology for Geothermal Applications

Ormat specializes in geothermal energy technologies and power plant configurations. One such technology from the company is the ORMAT ENERGY CONVERTER (OEC). With the use of this technology, heat in low, medium and high temperatures can be used to generate electricity. The OEC from Ormat is available in sizes and capacities ranging from 250 kW to 20 MW.

The major parts of an OEC from Ormat are a turbo generator, a preheater or vaporizer, an air-cooled condenser, a range of controls and a feed pump. The ORMAT ENERGY CONVERTER is suitable for a range of outdoor applications. The OEC can handle various geothermal fluids such as steam, brine, silica and NCG. Steam pressure ranging from 1.5 bar to 25.0 bar can be accommodated by this system from Ormat. Bring temperatures between 100 degrees Celsius and 224 degrees Celsius can also be handled by the ORMAT Energy CONVERTER.

This technology is also suitable for small to medium power projects where the volume of resources available may not be very high. Ormat also provides complete repair and maintenance for its technology and its systems.
