Ascent Solar Technologies announced the development of new building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products with different widths for the US standing seam metal roof marketplace. The development of this new metal roof solution was part of a current agreement with EnergyPeak of Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
Ascent Solar Technologies is a manufacturer of flexible thin-film photovoltaic modules and EnergyPeak is a marketing division of CENTRIA Services Group. Testing of the new building integrated photovoltaic products is expected to continue through the first half of the year 2010 with the intention of purchasing modules for projects in the second half of the year 2010.
Rick Mowrey, Director of Marketing and Business Development for CENTRIA and EnergyPeak, remarked that the company is pleased to make a public announcement of its current relationship with Ascent Solar. The company is also looking forward to test Ascent’s PV products to meet the requirements of the metal roof industry.
Farhad Mogadam, CEO of Ascent Solar, remarked on the company’s enthusiasm to work with EnergyPeak, which is considered as an experienced provider of photovoltaic metal roofing systems. Mogadam said that the company’s flexible and lightweight photovoltaic modules are a perfect solution for the metal roofing systems.
EnergyPeak, according to Mogadam, is a perfect business partner for this undertaking because of the short-term wholly addressable market of 10 million square feet of building integrated photovoltaic products each year and a long-term 100 million square feet of building integrated photovoltaic products every year.
