Solarfun Power Holdings to Expand PV Module and PV Cell Production Capacity

Solarfun Power Holdings, a manufacturer of photovoltaic cells, modules and silicon ingots in China, announced the expansion of its production capacity expecting an increase in demand. The company’s photovoltaic cell production will increase from 360MW to 480MW by July 2010 and its photovoltaic module production capacity will increase from 550MW to 700MW by April 2010.

Peter Xie, President of Solarfun Power Holdings, remarked that it is vital for the company to increase its manufacturing capacity to fulfill growing customer demands. This increase is necessary as the company has a positive view on industry demand in the year 2010.

Solarfun Power Holdings is also expecting a growing demand from the United States and China since these countries are provided with increased subsidies for solar projects. Xie stated that the company is planning to continue with its efforts to reduce processing costs by increasing the production scale and enhancing manufacturing efficiencies.
