Nevada Geothermal Power develops the Crump Geyser geothermal project, which is located in the Warner Valley of Lake County, Oregon. A transformer substation and a power line connection to a regional power grid are located near the project site. The project location has a minimum and maximum capacity of 40 and 60 megawatts, as per the preliminary review. The project site is situated in the limits of moderate to high thermal activity zone.
In the future, Nevada Geothermal Power plans to continue the exploration surveys by performing reservoir drilling, confirmation, testing, and project feasibility studies. The exploration surveys will help to proceed further with the Crump Geyser geothermal project. The maximum water temperature of the site, at a depth of 32 feet, is 122 degrees Celsius. The samples taken from the geothermal springs of the project site confirmed temperatures of more than 150 degrees Celsius.
The Crump Geyser has been active for many years since it was drilled in the year, 1959. Two days after the drilling, a stream of steam and hot water erupted from the well to a height of 45 meters. The geyser was the largest in the United States at that time. However, the height of the stream came down to 18 meters, after many boulders were thrown in its casing.
