Flamewave Fires manufactures different models of inset open fireboxes for building into fireplaces. The Tortoise inset firebox, available from the company, is a traditional style firebox. The inset open fire utilizes wood for burning. The firebox is available in eight different models. Models one to four are suitable for use with coal, gas and wood and models five to seven use wood only. The inset open firebox is equipped with flue damper that controls the burning when wood or coal is used.
The Traditional Tortoise inset firebox is included with an ash tray, fuel retaining bar and tool as a standard feature. The firebox does not need any additional part to burn wood. The accessories provided with the inset open fire for coal and wood burning models include a multi fuel grid. The firebox also provides a horizontal fire bar option. The inset fire should be installed with gatherhood, where a positive connection to flue pipe or liner is needed.
The Tortoise inset firebox comes with sparkguard that is a fine mesh used to cover the front of the firebox when it is left unattended. The model 7 is the largest size inset firebox that measures 1,178mm (width) x 810mm (height) x 503mm (depth). The heat output of the model 7 firebox is 16 kilowatts. The air supply of the model 7 firebox is 360 square centimeters. This inset open firebox, offered by Flamewave Fires, requires a minimum flue diameter of 300mm.
