A 31-W solar-electric system was installed and commissioned on Metallion Industries’ headquarters and wholesale distributed center that is located in Estacada, Oregon by Solar Nation. Metallion Industries provide customized roofing solutions and sliding panels for agricultural, commercial and residential buildings.
Metallion Industries had installed the solar system not only to stabilize and reduce energy costs but also to showcase the system to its customers. The solar installation comprises 176 solar panels covering roof space area of 2,416 square feet. The electricity generated from the system is enough to meet about 89 percent of power required for the 14,300-square-foot facility.
Nolan Bechtel, owner of Metallion Industries, said that the company was exploring ways on how to install solar power systems on its roofing products. Solar Nation was able to solve all the problems that are associated with solar-electric systems in an exhaustive, accurate and timely manner, he added. He commented that by installing the power system on its roof, it not only presented an opportunity for company to demonstrate its commitment for green environment but also to make its business competitive in the future.
Metallion Industries has provided a kiosk in its store for marketing Solar Nation’s systems as a result of its experience gained from the installation. The kiosk will provide details about Solar Nation’s systems and services.
Paul Hodge, CEO of Solar Nation, said the project is mutually beneficial for company and the public. He commented that the company is able to generate about 90% of its energy requirements from the solar system thus reducing pressure on the transmission line benefiting the public and environment by reducing carbon emissions.
