Specialty Concepts Offers ASC Photovoltaic Battery Charge Controllers

Specialty Concepts offers charge controllers and photovoltaic regulators. The Automatic Sequencing Charger (ASC) available from the company is a solid-state charge controller. It is designed for photovoltaic systems that have currents up to 16A. This charge controller is offered in 12V and 24V models. Other options included with this controller are: battery temperature compensation, low-voltage load-disconnect and adjustable set-points.

ASC Photovoltaic Battery Charge Controller

The ASC photovoltaic battery charge controller is UL recognized and CSA and FM approved. It is suitable for the systems that have 1 to 4 solar panels. This controller prevents the batteries from overcharging. It is available in 12V and 24V units and in 4, 8, 12 and 16A versions. This controller is also available in 6, 36 and 48V units. It features pulse charging, switching shunt, low switching frequency and remote temperature compensation. This photovoltaic battery charge controller from Specialty Concepts is completely enclosed and is water resistant. It has 100% of solid-state charge control.

The lightning protection, low power consumption, reverse leakage protection and input noise suppression are other features of the ASC charge controller. This controller is also equipped with LVD activated light and charging light. It allows array current to pass through the blocking diode into the battery. The “charging” LED light is lighted while charging and remains till the voltage reaches charge set-point. A shunt transistor is utilized to turn on and turn off the “charging” LED depending on the charging process.
