Tempress Systems, a solar subsidiary of Amtech Systems, has received about $19 million in solar orders for its diffusion processing systems. The orders were secured from the company’s existing as well as several new customers in Asia. Amtech Systems is a capital equipment manufacturer for the production of semiconductors, silicon wafers, and solar cells.

Chief Executive Officer and President of Amtech, J.S. Whang, said that the new orders from existing and new customers in Asia demonstrate the fast-growing solar manufacturing market in that region. He commented that Tempress Systems, through its superior diffusion technology, has developed a significant presence in a very short period in the region.

J.S. Whang added that the company is delighted that a growing number of top rung solar cell manufacturers are recognizing its ability to support their high efficiency solar cell programs and its diffusion technology. According to J.S. Whang, the demand for Tempress Systems’ diffusion technology and its related products will continue to grow due to the active efforts by the solar industry as well as its customers to increase solar cell efficiency.
