Suniva, a high-efficiency solar module manufacturer based in U.S., said that the company will be partnering with GS Yuasa International’s American subsidiary, GS Battery, to develop energy storing systems utilizing Suniva’s solar modules.
The initial phase of the collaboration between GS Battery and Suniva will involve planning and development of various commercial demonstration sites throughout the United States. The first system will be built on the headquarters of GS Battery in Roswell, Georgia, using 30 kW of Suniva’s solar modules. First Century Energy, an Atlanta-based solar integrator, will be designing and constructing this solar module array. In Georgia, this system, when completed, will be first grid-connected energy-storing solar installation.
Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, battery storage systems also qualify for the same 30% federal investment tax credit as for solar systems. Yasuyuki Nakamura, President of GS Battery, said that owners of solar systems who are able to store the energy output from the system can capitalize on numerous economic opportunities. Nakamura added that the company’s innovative technology enables customers to accomplish better returns on their investment. The company is delighted about the value of combining its battery technology with Suniva’s high-powered solar modules.
Under the partnership, Suniva’s Powered by Suniva, its high-efficiency modules, will be used by GS Battery. These solar modules are capable of generating up to 300 watts of power output, which in today’s solar market is one of the highest levels of performance.
