Kansai Electric Power to Construct 6-MW Wind Power Plant

Kansai Electric Power, Japan’s second-largest utility, is planning to construct a wind power plant with a capacity of 6 MW in central Japan. The demand for alternative power supplies is growing in Japan and many utilities in the country are utilizing the opportunity.

Kansai Electric Power is intending to start constructing on the wind power plant in Aichi during this spring and begin commercial operation in 2011 winter, according to a spokesman for the company. The cost of investment for the project was not disclosed.

To promote power supplies from environment-friendly sources, utilities in Japan, in recent years, have announced a number of new wind energy projects.
