GA-Solar to Invest $ 1 Billion to Construct Photovoltaic Project in New Mexico

A large photovoltaic project is to be built in Guadalupe County, New Mexico by GA-Solar, a renewable energy company based in Spain, and Corporacion Gestamp, its parent company, with a planned investment of $ 1 billion. This was announced by New Mexico Governor, Bill Richardson.

The project will be developed in Guadalupe County covering an area of 2,500 acres. Large solar arrays will be constructed on the land and the project has the possibility of achieving installed capacity of more that 300 MW, when completed.

During the construction period, which is estimated to be about four years, the project will provide employment to 300 people in rural New Mexico. During its commercial operation, the project will have 75 full-time employees. Racking equipment will be sourced from local sources by Corporacion Gestamp, according to governor’s office.
