Advanced Energy Industries Awarded Second-Phase Contract for Newly Expanded 6-MW Solar Power Plant

Advanced Energy Industries announced that Solar Power has awarded a second-phase contract for an expanded 6-MW solar plant that is being installed at the corporate headquarters of Aeroject located in Sacramento, California.

The Solaron PV inverters from Advanced Energy Industries were selected due to its leading efficiency ratings in the solar industry and for its capability to deliver the lowest levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and maximum power.

Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Energy, Dr. Hans Betz, said this expansion proves that leading energy companies are taking major strides for the deployment of renewable energy solutions. Hans Betz added that the company’s innovative technology and support services have enabled it to render benefits to its customers in the utility as well as commercial markets.

Solar Power had completed successfully the original 3.6 MW solar project in November 2009. The expansion of the project with additional 2.4 MW increases the capacity of the project to 6 MW. The expansion project is anticipated to be completed in 2010 April and will be the largest industrial installation in California. About 10% of the electricity requirements of the Aerojet facility will be provided by this solar project.
