ITS Innotech Solar, a solar company based in Norway, has purchased land in Eastern Germany for developing a facility to enhance the power output of solar cells. This investment in the city of Halle from the company will provide a significant boost for the photovoltaic sector in the region. Germany Trade & Invest has assisted ITS for the land acquisition.
The new investment from ITS Innotech Solar will help to create about 80 jobs in the region during the initial stage and the number of employees will double in the future as per the company’s plans. The company buys solar cells and enhances its power output through industrial production techniques. The quality of the solar cells is also guaranteed by the company.
Innotech Solar CEO Thor Christian Tuv said that many positive conditions in Germany helped the company to select the country for the new investment to further increase its businesses. The Halle site was chosen based on the available infrastructure, German Autobahn accessibility, and proximity to the Leipzig-Halle airport.
The company’s decision to invest in Germany is a proof of the country’s well-developed photovoltaic industry. The country has a high concentration of PV companies, suppliers and research institutes. In 2009, the country had installed 3.0 GW of solar power representing approximately 50% of PV installations in the world.
