Gamesa, a Spain-based company, has established its operations in India with the launching of its plant, Gamesa Wind Turbines Pvt. Ltd, near Chennai, India. The plant was inaugurated by Gamesa's Chairman, Mr. Jorge Calvet and the Chairman & Managing Director of Gamesa Wind Turbines Pvt Ltd., Mr. Ramesh Kymal.
The new plant will manufacture G58-850 kW Wind Turbine with an initial annual production capacity of 200 MW. The plant will create more than 100 jobs. The company has contracts totaling 60 MW in India and adjacent countries. With the implementation of state-of-art production management systems in the new facility, the production times as well as costs are reduced ensuring high quality products.
The new plant is part of Gamesa’s strategy to set up plants in markets with high potential for growth as well as to accomplish greater production capacity at competitive environments. The company has 1,000 MW production capacities in China and with the inauguration of this plant in India, it reaffirms the company’s presence in Asia. The company now has 30 manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Asia and Europe with a total workforce of about 6,500 employees.
