Sea Gull Lighting is named the 2008 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year

For the fourth time, Sea Gull Lighting Products, LLC, a Generation Brands company, has been honored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its commitment and promotion of ENERGY STAR(R) lighting and energy efficiency.

Sea Gull Lighting is named the 2008 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year by the EPA for its efforts to actively develop, distribute, market and sell environmentally-friendly lighting fixtures and ceiling fans that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. Because of Sea Gull Lighting's continued commitment, the EPA has bestowed the additional designation of "Sustained Excellence" to Sea Gull Lighting for the second year in a row.

Selected from thousands of organizations participating in the ENERGY STAR program, the 2008 Partner of the Year and Sustained Excellence Award is presented only to select organizations that have aggressively fulfilled ENERGY STAR initiatives through the continued promotion of its benefits and the ongoing development and introduction of new ENERGY STAR products. Company representatives will accept the prestigious award at ceremonies to be held April 1, 2008 in Washington, D.C. by the EPA.

"We are proud to recognize Sea Gull Lighting's continued efforts with the 2008 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence award," said Robert J. Meyers, principal deputy assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Air & Radiation. "Year after year partners like Sea Gull Lighting are examples of the benefits of a long-term commitment to energy efficiency. Their actions are leading the way in saving energy and helping to protect the environment."

A charter member of the ENERGY STAR program, Sea Gull Lighting currently markets an industry-leading 450-plus ENERGY STAR qualified decorative lighting fixtures to a diverse customer base that includes building professionals, electrical wholesale distributors, lighting showrooms, and architects. The company is also an active ENERGY STAR partner that rigorously promotes energy-efficiency through a comprehensive marketing, advertising and communications program.

"We strongly believe in the ENERGY STAR program and the need to protect our environment through the greater use and proliferation of energy-efficient products," says Ace Rosenstein, the company's vice president of marketing and corporate development. "We are also a proud partner of the program and dedicated to working with the EPA as well as our trade partners and customers to deliver lighting that not only saves energy and reduces energy costs, but also greatly reduces the emission of greenhouse gases that are negatively impacting our planet."

"Since the early 90's Sea Gull Lighting has been involved with ENERGY STAR and we are proud to again be recognized for our long term commitment to energy savings," adds Paul Vrabel, Director for the company's Energy Efficient Products Group. "Our efforts are a part of a larger corporate initiative as we share our knowledge and expertise with all Generation Brands business units to advance the marketplace with energy efficient products."

Vrabel continues, "Every year we try to do more to help educate consumers about the benefits of ENERGY STAR qualified lighting. By simply switching five traditional lighting fixtures to ENERGY STAR qualified models in the home, EPA estimates that consumers can expect to save $65 a year in energy costs in addition to reducing green house gas emissions."
