Senator Hails SolarWorld as a Model of California’s Legacy in Renewable Energy

Tony Strickland, Senator of California State, commented that the SolarWorld group is a major Californian manufacturer of solar energy technology capable of reviving the state’s interest to be self-sufficient in energy needs and green-technology jobs.

He highlighted a bill (SBX8 22) that exempts the products of green-technology companies from sales taxes to boost employment opportunities. He also added that the green energy industry can make a great difference in taking California back to economic prosperity and that he will be supporting them in all ways in creating jobs and helping the economy grow.

Senators Alex Padilla and Strickland together authored SBX8 22 after Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger put forward the idea of a sales tax relief. Job creation and renewable energy are the most important motifs of Strickland’s dream of bringing California back to prosperity.

SolarWorld is the biggest in the US solar technology industry. Its automated and fully modernized Camarillo plant has since 1979 produced solar modules. SolarWorld also has manufacturing plants in Hillsboro and Vancouver.
