Hydrogenics Corporation to Supply Fuel Cell Power Modules for UNIDO Boat Project

Hydrogenics Corporation, a leading manufacturer of fuel cell and hydrogen generation products, has received a contract to deliver six HyPM HD8 fuel cell power modules to UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) for a boat project. This project is coordinated by ICHET (International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies) in Turkey.

The contract awarded to Hydrogenics Corporation also includes supply of spare parts and other auxiliaries including carbon composite hydrogen storage tanks and components for a period of two years of its operation to ICHET. The integration of the project is overseen by ICHET.

In 2009, BELBIM A.S, an engineering organization, had awarded a contract to Hydrogenics Corporation to supply four HyPM HD12 fuel cell power modules for a passenger boat project for Municipal Transit Authority of Istanbul. In this project, the hydrogen and fuel cell consultant was UNIDO and ICHET.

Daryl Wilson, President and CEO of Hydrogenics Corporation, said the company is making its presence in the water mobility projects powered by fuel cells beginning with its water taxi project in Venice many years ago. Like in other key end markets, the company’s effort in this market is also yielding positive results and Hydrogenics is looking forward to work with ICHET on this project, Wilson said.
