The launch of a new website was announced by Ontario Power Authority (OPA), where the suppliers and service providers in the renewable energy technology sector of solar water, solar air, small wind, solar photovoltaic and geothermal can apply to feature in the vendor list. The last date to be included in the website as a vendor is 26th March, 2010. Companies that offer renewable energy services and products to social housing providers and Ontario school boards can be apply to be on the vendor list of this new website.
Renewable energy technology vendors that have met certain eligibility conditions only will be listed in the website. The vendor list is anticipated to be ready by April 2010. School boards in Ontario and providers of social housing will utilize this list for installing renewable energy technologies worth $120 million aimed to reduce cost of energy in social housing and schools. Ministry of Education is providing $50 million for school boards and Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is supplying $70 million for providers of social housing.
Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Brad Duguid, said providing renewable energy is beneficial for all including social housing, schools and all of Ontario’s citizens. This green initiative demonstrates the vision of the government in its efforts to improve the infrastructure thus stimulating the economy, Duguid added.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Power Authority, Colin Andersen, said the OPA is delighted to support the renewable energy projects development for social housing and schools in Ontario through this green initiative and encouraged all eligible suppliers of renewable energy to apply at http://retvendorlist.powerauthority.on.ca/
