Amtech Systems Receives Solar Orders from New Customers in Asia and Europe

Tempress Systems, a solar subsidiary of Amtech Systems, has received about $8.5 million worth of solar orders from new customers in Asia and Europe. Two customers from Asia and one customer from Europe have placed orders with the company for its diffusion processing systems.

Amtech Systems is global supplier of capital equipment for the production of semiconductors, silicon wafers and solar cells. For the current quarter ending 31st March 2010, Amtech has received total solar orders of $27 million. Total solar orders till date received by Amtech for the fiscal year 2010 have exceeded $80 million. The company’s fiscal year 2010 began in 1st October 2009.

President and Chief Executive Officer of Amtech, J.S. Whang, said the company’s effort to expand its share in the solar market is underscored through these new orders. In addition, its advanced diffusion technology is sought after by increasing numbers of research development labs. The company is confident that due the continued efforts of the solar industry and its customers to enhance the efficiency of solar cells, the demand for its advanced diffusion technology will increase, Whang said.
