Windflow 500 Wind Turbines from Windflow

Windflow is a manufacturer of wind turbines and wind farms. The Windflow 500 wind turbine designed by the company is a two-bladed turbine. The pitch teeter coupling, synchronous power generation and patented torque limiting gearbox make this wind generator efficient.

Windflow 500 wind turbine

The two-bladed rotor from the Windflow 500 wind turbine is fixed on a hinge enabling it to teeter back and forth as it rotates. This teetering minimizes the fatigue loads on windmills. The blades are made of laminated wood/epoxy materials and have a weight of 900kg. The rotor has a diameter of 33.2m, swept area of 866m2 and speed of 48 to 51RPM. The hub is pitch-coupled and it has a height of 30m. The weight of the rotor with hub and blades is 4,000kg. This wind generator from Windflow is equipped with parallel TLG/Hicks planetary gearbox with four stages.

The patented torque limiting gearbox included in the Windflow 500 wind turbine is a hydraulic variable speed system that minimizes the fatigue loads and supply smooth power output. This wind generator has a maximum power output of 500kW at a rated wind speed of 13.7m/s. Its low cut-in wind speed is 5.5m/s and high cut-out wind speed is 30m/s. The total weight of the nacelle and rotor is 13,700kg and that of the turbine is 29,100kg.
