Going Green is Good for Business

Frost & Sullivan announces the launch of its “Green Excellence Awards,” recognizing companies that are pioneering technologies that exhibit exceptional innovation and leadership. To recognize recipients of these Awards, Frost & Sullivan will host the first annual Global Green Excellence Award banquet on September 17, 2008 in Monterey, California.

One of the keys to solving the climate crisis involves finding ways to use the powerful force of market capitalism as an ally. … The environmental impact of our economic choices has often been ignored because traditional business accounting has allowed these factors to be labeled "externalities" and routinely excluded from the balance sheet.

Frost & Sullivan firmly believes that going green is good for business and is using the Awards to inspire developers, innovators and designers to integrate green strategies into their products and services.

The Green Excellence Awards are also a way in which investors can identify companies to invest in that are thriving by employing strategies with a positive environmental impact.

“Environmental policy and positioning have become a core part of corporate strategy, as environmental performance has become a key area of competitive advantage in a huge number of marketplaces. Put simply, this Award program is about recognizing companies that are leading the way in integrating their successful growth strategies with programs of environmental and social responsibility,” said Shekar Gopalan, Partner & Global VP of Research at Frost & Sullivan.

For over 45 years Frost & Sullivan has monitored all aspects of the companies and technologies including environmental strategies across 35 markets. It is now focusing it research knowledge to recognize companies that are using innovation and leadership with a strong positive environmental perspective to grow their businesses.

For example, a company who is optimizing their supply chain to reduce fuel costs is not only helping the bottom-line, it’s also reducing emissions from the trucks that carry its products.

“With the current concerns around unpredictable energy prices and the noticeable effects of climate change, it’s increasingly important that companies integrate a green strategy into their growth plans. Frost & Sullivan takes pride in recognizing companies that surpass their competitors while taking environmental responsibility,” said David Frigstad, Frost & Sullivan’s Chairman & CEO.

Green Excellence Award recipients are companies and individuals that excel in their markets while integrating green priorities such as reduced energy consumption, recycling, renewable resources, water re-use and remediation, bio-fuels etc.
