SunLink Begins Shipping Roof Module Mounting System for Largest Municipal Solar Installation

SunLink Corporation has started shipping its roof module mounting system for the biggest municipal solar installation in the country. Recurrent Energy, a leading solar power projects developer, has chosen SunLink for this project, which is located on the Sunset Reservoir in San Francisco. The 5-MW project will utilize SunLink’s roof mount solution for installing more than 23,000 solar modules from Suntech. The system will be mounted on the retrofitted flat rooftop of the reservoir.

CEO of SunLink, Christopher Tilley, said the company is delighted to be selected for this project, especially since the project advances the renewable energy goals of the San Francisco city. Tilley further said SunLink’s leading roof mounting solution is widely used in the industry due to its design expertise, extensive engineering and capability to meet a project’s unique requirements. This project on the rooftop of the reservoir required no penetrations.

CEO of Recurrent Energy, Arno Harris, commented that the company has worked with SunLink on several solar projects and is happy with its reliable mounting technology. The company is looking forward to be working with SunLink for this large-scale solar power installation, Harris said.

When the Sunset Reservoir project is completed in the Fall of this year, the San Francisco’s municipal solar power production will be tripled. It will also reduce more than 100,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed between Recurrent Energy and San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. Through this PPA, the reservoir solar project is being developed. The power generated from the facility will be supplied to the distribution grid and utilized by San Francisco International Airport, General Hospital, city’s public schools, and street lights.
