In a bid to expand its presence in the global market, Surface Power, an Ireland-based solar thermal product manufacturer, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with U.S.-based company, Solar Energy Initiatives. The partnership will concentrate on the distribution and sale of SP501 solar thermal collector manufactured by Surface Power. The thermal collectors are used for applications such as solar air-conditioning and heating, hot water for use in industrial, commercial and residential buildings.
The Irish state agency, Enterprise Ireland, which focuses on the promotion and development of Irish businesses, had organized a Trade and Investment Mission to the U.S. The Mission was led by the Prime Minister of Ireland, Brian Cowen. The partnership agreement was announced during the Trade Mission. Prime Minister Cowen congratulated the company for its partnership agreement with Solar Energy Initiatives.
Solar technology developed by Surface Power is utilized for renewable energy production used for air-conditioning, process water, heating, hot water, generation of electricity, and water treatment applications. Solar Energy Initiatives, a provider of diversified solar solutions, has three main operating divisions concentrating on solar education, large-scale solar projects and solar products distribution across the Caribbean and the United States.
Chief Executive Officer of Solar Energy Initiatives, David Fann, said the company is delighted with the strategic partnership with Surface Power. Surface Power's products have a positive impact on the solar heating and air-conditioning market, which will help to create a new market segment for the company, Fann added.
Surface Power's CEO, John Quinn, stated that the company’s SP501 solar thermal collector is the most productive in the world and is capable of operating in extreme environments including Northern climates. The solar industry can now supply solutions for large-scale solar air-conditioning and commercial applications, Quinn said.
