1366 Technologies, a silicon photovoltaics equipment company, announced that it is partnering with RENA, the market leader in photovoltaics wet processing technology, to integrate its Self-Aligned Cell technology into an entire production process. 1366 Technologies’ structured patterning technology will be incorporated into wet processing technology developed by RENA.
Managing Director of RENA, Hartmut Nussbaumer, said that the outcome of incorporating the technology from 1366 into its existing process clusters will be high-performing solar cells for customers. The company’s existing product line for texturing wafers includes InTex wet processing system.
A substantial improvement in cell efficiency will be realized by incorporating the 1366's honeycomb-structured texture into the cell production process. The texture can be utilized for both multi-crystaline and mono-crystaline wafers, thus enabling manufacturers of cells flexibility that was not possible before.
President of 1366 Technologies, Frank van Mierlo, said the company is one of the world’s leading photovoltaic technology companies. Mierlo further said the partnership demonstrates the strength of its Self-Aligned Cell technology.
