Horizon Energy Solutions, one of the first commercial solar energy generating businesses in Ontario, has launched "Ontario's Solar Sunbelt," a new clean energy initiative that takes advantages of the Green Energy Act of the Ontario government.
The company is also collaborating with St. Catharines and Hamilton cities and Mohawk College and McMaster University for the Golden Horseshoe Strategic Energy Alliance and will be one of the founding members.
Max Cananzi, Horizon CEO, said the strategic alliance with the combined capabilities of training and research institutions and cities’ development resources will help to create and attract businesses and energy technologies of the future. Skilled local workforce that will be required by this new sector for the residents’ benefits will be provided by the company, Cananzi said.
Agreements are in the process for solar installations for several industrial, institutional and commercial buildings in the region. Later in the year, solar offering for the residential sector is proposed. Every 10,000 kW of solar power generated is equal to curtailing emissions generated by over 500 cars for a full year. The same amount of solar power is enough to meet the electricity needs of about 1,200 homes.
