New Efficiency Record Set by OSRAM LED Light Engine

OSRAM’s recently developed LED light engines manage the balancing act between maximum efficiency and light quality – with a light output of 122lm/W they achieve a new maximum with excellent colour reproduction (CRI >90, 2,700K).

The Munich lighting manufacturer’s latest LED innovation is a winner with its warm white light (2,700K), colour-rendering index (CRI) of more than 90 and luminous flux of over 1,800lm while using only 15W of power. With its compact size it is especially suited to integration in downlights or spots.

The problem-free reproducibility and stability of its opto-electronic features are particularly worth mentioning. Which means special chromaticity coordinate control techniques can achieve variations below the visual perception threshold. Chromaticity coordinate deviations are within LM-80 guidelines. OSRAM has achieved this efficiency record by bundling the electronic and mechatronic skills of its solidstate lighting (SSL) business unit and the LED expertise of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors in Regensburg (Germany). Measurements were taken at the company’s in-house development laboratory.
